We are proud to release a new version of dbMaestro Teamwork™. Some of the exciting new features include:
- Added an internal security mechanism – Access Roles, which enables the administrator to set permissions on object types and action to a specific user within a specific project.
- Viewing the Database Schema from a Module Point of View provides database administrators (DBAs) with a view of the database schema from the point of view of a module. This significantly increases efficiency, making the jobs of both the DBA and database developers much easier.
- The managed schema’s password can now be saved in TeamWork client, eliminating the need to enter it repeatedly.
- Adding Search functionality in Source Control window, which allows you to find objects in specific status, for example: pending changes, objects being checked-out by different user and so on.
- New platforms added:
- Windows 2003 (64 bit) , 2008 (32 and 64 bit)
- Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit)
Additional fixes in the new version include:
- Several issues in content management.
- Supporting truncate command.
- Known Issue: Add-In will not start when using ODAC 10g on 64bit. Click to see the solution.

TeamWork 2.7.3 has been released!
We are very happy to release a new version of dbMaestro Teamwork™. The interesting features released recently are:
- Extending the tables content managing. Before this version only content of tables with a primary key could have been managed. With this new release, tables content with unique indexes or unique constraints and without a primary key can also been managed.
- Adding Visual Studio 2010 add-in.
- Adding “Freeze development” that has been discussed here.
- The new multi-schema login support enables users to login to several schemas at the same time, and quickly browse through them when working on large multi-schema projects, or when deploying changes between managed environments.
- Other improvements include extended linkage to SCMs – now enabling linkage of schema versions to SCM labels, and allowing change-sets to be re-linked or altered, by privileged users.
Additional fixes that entered into the versions are:
- Failed to add new column with default value when the schema was in Integration Mode.
- Deployment Manager support CLOB columns with CLOB_EMPTY() instead of NULLs.

Well, 2.7.1 is a small release, mainly due to the fact that we promised to support Visual Studio 2010, as soon as it will be released. So we did…
A new feature that worked itself into this release is the “Freeze development” that has been discussed here last month, and provided some good feedback. As it was easy enough to provide, and gave real benefit to several of our customers – we decided to quickly make this one available.
We also fixed some minor glitches in the installation, and made sure everything is as clear as possible.
Adding this, somewhat unscheduled release, has moved the 2.8 release in a couple of weeks, so expect this on mid June.

We are very happy to release a new version of dbMaestro Teamwork™. Two of the more interesting features in this release are a new Compare & Merge user interface and a multi-schema login support.
The new Compare & Merge user interface enables developers and DBAs to analyze coding changes with great ease, and have all of the required information– source code, destination and baseline, available at a glance. The new merge engine is capable of performing auto merges, and deal with complex conflicts with unparallel results – instead of typing and copy-pasting, just click “resolve conflict” and get it done !
The new multi-schema login support enables users to login to several schemas at the same time, and quickly browse through them when working on large multi-schema projects, or when deploying changes between managed environments.
Other improvements include extended linkage to SCMs – now enabling linkage of schema versions to SCM labels, and allowing change-sets to be re-linked or altered, by privileged users.
Next release, TeamWork V2.8, is due at the end of May 2010. Follow this blog for more information about it.

We are very pleased to be able to announce the immediate availability of our integration with Microsoft’s Visual Studio Team System (VSTS). This is a key deliverable for us and one that finally provides VSTS customers with the ability to track database modifications in tandem with application source code changes. Extending software configuration management (SCM) capabilities to the database is our core focus and being able to provide integration directly into management systems like VSTS is critical to our customers and our long term success. With this announcement, we are now able to provide direct integration into IBM Rational and Microsoft VSTS and will continue to work to extend this capability to other systems.
Here quickly are some of the highlights of this integration and the associated benefits:
• Allows users to correlate VSTS and TeamWork projects, including linking database changes and updates with VSTS activities and saving extended information about database activities within VSTS
• Provides a single point of management (and audit) for application source and database changes allowing for access to aggregated information about code and database changes within VSTS
• A single vocabulary to drill down into project tasks and impact analysis (what was changed when feature X was developed or bug Y fixed – from code and database perspectives)
• A single process to achieve code and database deployment based on Microsoft VSTS definitions (activities and work items).
We look forward to bringing you even more news shortly on other key activities related to integration with and certification of dbMaestro TeamWork.

We are very happy to release the new dbMaestro Teamwork™ Add-in for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 – Working on databases from within visual studio has never been easier: a new panel is added to your visual studio, enabling you to perform all of your change management activities, such as check in & out, view history, or rollback your database objects; as well as just double click objects and edit them using ODAC editors.
Add-in for Visual Studio 2010 will be release once VS2010 goes out of beta…
I am also very proud of our improved internal references mechanism, as it has enabled us to achieve zero footprint at the database managed schema, which is, quite obviously, very important. All information and policy enforcement mechanism parts, are now located inside dbMaestro’s own schema, invisible to the development and deployment cycles.
We also added the much requested command line interface, which enables batch check-in/check-out/save version/deployment operations to be automated with a scripting interface.
And finally, improved integration with Rational Team Concert and Microsoft TFS – now supporting queries for selecting work items, and updating work items status changes, when performing check-in in TeamWork. TeamWork check-in comments are now added to linked Microsoft TFS work items history.
Next release, TeamWork V2.7, is due beginning of march 2010. Follow this blog for more information about it.

We were very pleased to be able to announce late last week that dbMaestro TeamWork had achieved “Ready for IBM Rational Software” validation. As many of you know, dbMaestro TeamWork is our database change management solution which helps organizations take control of the database development process by improving process driven automation, visibility and quality over the change management process.
With this announcement, and the immediate availability of the integration between IBM Rational ClearQuest and dbMaestro TeamWork, we are able to fully extend source control management to the database layer. This functionality finally provides IBM Rational ClearQuest customers with the ability to track database modifications in tandem with application source code changes resulting in entire projects being deployed in a process-controlled, audited and compliant fashion

I’m happy to announce that a new TeamWork version has been released – V2.5.4…
We had a lot of work done on our reporting module, and some improvements around the Microsoft VSTS integration;
But I am especially proud of our IBM Rational Team Concert integration (RTC).
IBM is really pushing RTC into the market, and we get a lot of good responses for being quick to integrate with it.
We are also working to get the integration certified (“Ready For Rational”) – and stamp another RFR logo on TeamWork (we already have a certified integration with IBM Rational Clear Quest – you can read about it here)
Also – development cycle of TeamWork V2.6 is in its final stages, and I can tell you that we have some cool new features coming out…
Expect more news about that by the end of January 2010…
